1. Who we are and how to contact us
modalunity.com (the “Site”) is owned and operated by KJ Ecom, registered in the Netherlands (registration number 91412749, VAT number NL004888760B45), Anthonetta Kuijlstraat 49B, 3066 GS Rotterdam, Netherlands. KJ Ecom is the data controller for personal information collected through the Site.

2. Information we collect
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address
- Order information: items purchased, payment method (we do not see or store full card numbers), order history
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, time zone, pages viewed, referring site
- Communication data: emails, contact-form messages and other correspondence with our team
We collect this when you place an order, create an account, subscribe to our newsletter, contact support, or browse the Site.
3. Why we use it and on what basis
- To fulfil orders – process payment, ship and deliver, handle returns and refunds (performance of a contract)
- To provide support – answer questions and resolve issues (performance of a contract, legitimate interests)
- To send service messages – order confirmations, shipping updates, invoices (performance of a contract, legal obligation)
- To send marketing – offers and news by email, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link
- To improve the Site – analytics and testing (legitimate interests, or consent where cookies require it)
- To prevent fraud and meet legal obligations – including tax and accounting rules (legal obligation, legitimate interests)
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who need it to run our business, under contracts that restrict how they use it:
- Shopify Inc., which hosts our store and processes checkout
- Payment providers (for example Shopify Payments, PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay, Google Pay)
- Shipping and logistics partners and order-tracking services
- Email, marketing and analytics providers
- Professional advisers and authorities where required by law
We do not sell your personal information.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, including in the United States and Canada. Where this happens we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and the UK, and equivalent safeguards, to protect your information.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the Site (for example the shopping cart), to understand how the Site is used, and, with your consent, to personalise content and advertising. You can manage cookie preferences through the cookie banner and your browser settings; some features may not work without essential cookies. 7. Security
The Site uses SSL encryption. Payment data is handled by PCI-DSS compliant providers. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
8. How long we keep it
We keep order and invoice data for as long as tax and accounting law requires (in the Netherlands, generally seven years). Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe. Other data is kept only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, then deleted or anonymised.
9. Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected
- Have your information erased where there is no longer a lawful reason to keep it
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority: in the Netherlands the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl), in the UK the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), or the authority in your own country.
10. Customers outside the EU and UK
If you are in the United States or Canada, you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion. Contact us at the address above and we will honour these requests where the law applies.
11. Children
The Site is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Third-party links
The Site may link to other websites. This policy does not cover them; please review their own privacy policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect legal, technical or operational changes. The current version is always published on this page.
